Artist statement

These images that
I spy in parks, backyards,
zoos, and natural habitats ultimately
radiate personality intentionally reminiscent of the
fauvists and impressionists. The principles of
complimentary colors and
color harmony
fascinate and inspire me.
I thrive on the transformations that occur
when I apply these principles; my spirit is fed by
the infinite permutations that are possible for
portraying the world that exists within
the confines of nature and the
liberal boundaries of
my imagination.
This art that I
compose represents a
unique form of mixed media
that blurs the boundaries between
painting and traditional photography.
Using camera and film and the tools available
from my studio and virtual darkroom,
I transform flora, fauna, and
esoterica into energetic,
evocative imagery.
